On Sunday, January 27, during the award ceremony held at the Dazaifu City Central Community Center, 7 students from Linden Hall High School received “Awards for Recognition of Special Achievement” from the Mayor of Dazaifu City, Daizo Kusuda.
SPECIAL AWARDS
Grade 12 Reiki Ishibashi
Reiki participated in the Global Space Design Challenge (GSDC) held at Imperial College London in the UK with a full scholarship from Linden Hall High School. At this event, scholars from across the globe competed to design the best near-future commercial spaceship.
Grade 10 Kento Honda
Kento travelled to Hollywood to learn cinematography skills from directors and with likeminded peers under a “Tobitate! Represent Japan Study Abroad Programme” scholarship.
Grade 9 Sara Aso
Sara represented both Linden Hall High School and Japan at Youth Water Forum Asia, an event in which high school students from Japan, Korea and Indonesia presented on and discussed water resource issues and initiatives.
Grade 9 Haruna Sakai
Haruna won first place in the duet section of the London Classical Music Competition and gold in the 32nd Yame and Chikugo Piano Concours. She also performed on both flute and piano at the Free Song Selection Junior Course of the Fukuoka District Finals Youth Division at The 24th Osaka National Music Competition and won gold for both.
GENERAL AWARDS
Grade 10 Taiki Inoue
Taiki was selected to join the “From Fukuoka to the World!” human resources development project organised by the Fukuoka Prefecture Board of Education. He travelled to Australia for a 6-day learning journey on food systems. Once there, he stayed at a farm, experienced farming techniques, and learned all about food from production to consumption.
Grade 10 Anjyu Okamoto
Anjyu was also selected to join the “From Fukuoka to the World!” human resources development project organised by the Fukuoka Prefecture Board of Education. In San Francisco, USA, she visited tech companies such as GAFA and participated in lectures at Stanford University.
Grade 9 Mirai Tsuda
Mirai joined the Global Leaders Programme 2023 Queensland Government Schools Short-Term Study Abroad X Leadership Development Workshop.
