Job Description

Linden Hall High School is seeking a full-time Teachers to teach the IB Diploma Programme (IBDP), with a particular focus on Biology, Chemistry, English A (Language and Literature) or Math AA. Depending on the successful candidate's qualifications and experience, there may also be opportunities to teach lower secondary courses.

Teaching Responsibilities

• Teach IBDP subjects, particularly Biology, Chemistry, English A (Language and Literature) , or Math AA, to high school students (typically 10–20 students per class), with one teacher to be recruited for each subject.
• Prepare lower secondary students for future study in the IB Diploma Programme.
• Develop curriculum, prepare lesson plans, design assessments and examinations, and evaluate student work.
• Support students in preparing for Internal Assessments (IA), Extended Essays (EE), and IB Final Examinations, where appropriate.

Other Responsibilities

• Serve as an assistant homeroom teacher for one class (the main homeroom teacher will be a Japanese teacher).
• Participate in school events such as Open School, Summer Camp, and other promotional activities as required.
• Supervise extracurricular activities and/or service-learning activities.
• Communicate effectively with parents and other stakeholders regarding students' academic progress and well-being.
• Demonstrate respect, empathy, and care toward students and colleagues.
• Undertake other reasonable duties assigned by the IBDP Coordinator or the school administration.

Salary and Benefits

• Monthly salary: Approximately JPY 370,000 (annual salary approximately JPY 4.5 million)
• Performance-based annual bonus (the standard bonus is approximately equivalent to two months' salary)

Requirements

Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree or higher (Master's degree preferred)
• Valid teaching licence or teaching qualification

Experience
• Experience teaching IB Diploma Programme is highly desirable.
• Experience working in an international school is preferred.
• Excellent English communication skills.

Japanese Language
• Basic conversational Japanese (approximately JLPT N4 level) is desirable but not essential.

Working Hours

• Monday to Friday 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
• Teaching load of approximately 15–20 classroom hours per week

• Saturdays (except when required for school events; compensatory leave or overtime pay will be provided)

• Japanese national holidays
• New Year holidays (29th December ~ 4th January)
• Summer holiday during the Obon period (13th ~15th August)
※School attendance is not mandatory during students’ long vacation periods (summer vacation: late July to late August; winter vacation: late December to early January; spring vacation: late March) except when required to report to work by official instruction.
※Faculty members may also be requested to work during:
• Summer Camp (late July)
• IB Intensive Week (late July)

Annual Leave
• Paid annual leave of 10 days is granted after six months of employment.

About Linden Hall High School

We are a small private junior and senior high school near Fukuoka, Japan that offers a rigorous academic program and exceptional cultural education opportunities.
While we are recognized by Japan’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Sport, and Science as an Article 1 school, we provide an English immersion programme and IB DP.
Our students have the option to obtain both a Japanese high school diploma and an International Baccalaureate diploma in English, meaning that they graduate English-Japanese bilingual and, sometimes, trilingual.
While our students are predominantly Japanese, we have been attracting more and more international students in the past few years.
