Bioblitz Activity Held in the English Garden

May 16, 2026

Junior high school students are currently learning about biodiversity in their environmental studies classes, and this week each grade participated in a Bioblitz activity held in the school’s English Garden.

A Bioblitz is a nature observation activity in which participants work together to identify and record as many living organisms as possible within a limited period of time.

At the beginning of the lesson, Grimm gave an introduction to the activity.

Students then divided into groups assigned to different areas of the garden, discussed their individual roles, and headed outdoors to begin their observations.

During the activity, students identified various forms of life—including plants, insects, birds, and fish—found in each area of the garden. They photographed the organisms and uploaded their findings using a dedicated application.

After the lesson, students shared comments such as:

“I was able to discover flowers I had never seen before.”
“Some flowers looked similar, but when we observed them closely, we realized they were actually different species.”
“We managed to record 19 different species in just 30 minutes.”
“It was a very fresh and exciting experience.”

Through this hands-on activity, students made new discoveries in the familiar surroundings of the English Garden while also developing their curiosity, observation skills, and teamwork abilities.

The English Garden, located behind our building, is currently open to the public, and the roses in the TG Rose Garden are now in full bloom.

Those living nearby are warmly invited to visit.
