Jul 29, 2025
Over the period of the 21st to the 25th of July, we held our summer camp (for students between 9 and 15) with the theme of 'learning STEAM through English', with participating students from not only Fukuoka, but Tokyo and Saitama, as well as Korea and Malaysia.
For the mock lessons, the students were divided into two age-separate groups, and engaged in English lessons, maths lessons, as well as science lessons.
In addition, for this summer camp, we had demonstrations of PET bottle rocket construction by Professor of Aeronautical Engineering, Dr. Masakatsu Tokunaga,
and a Japanese cultural experience through making netsuke with the guidance of a specialist of woodworking technologies, Rintaro Eya.
* Netsuke are items made to be attached to the obi of a kimono (similar to modern key-holders). In this case, made from wood using carving tools.
Below are pictures of the other activities.

Dinner and Dorm
After 5 days of lessons and events, the groups reflected and gave presentations on what they've learned.
In addition to raising English ability, our hope is that in learning STEAM through English, our attendees could also grow their creativity and rational thinking, their expressiveness, and their flexible thinking and practicality.
We received thoughts from the students including 'I was nervous at first, but I was able to make friends so it was fun' (10 years old), 'the garden tour full of nature was very impressive' (11 years old), 'all the programs were interesting' (12 years old), 'the nightly dorm activities, like the quiz and karaoke contest, were lively' (13 years old), 'the students and the teachers, everyone was wonderful. I'd like to come again' (13 years old).
We thank everyone from coming from afar to attend.
Please feel free to come and enjoy the high school again.
And to the student who volunteered their help for several days, a big thanks goes to you.
