“Cultivating Global Leaders Through the Educational Philosophy of ‘Wakon Eisei’”

In her essay, Principal Tsuzuki highlights the importance of understanding Japanese culture and values and developing a strong sense of identity in an increasingly globalized world. She also introduces Linden Hall High School’s educational philosophy of Wakon Eisei, which emphasizes nurturing students who combine a strong foundation in Japanese culture and values with the knowledge and skills to excel on the global stage.

Alongside our strong commitment to English-language education, we place great importance on providing opportunities for students to explore Japanese culture and traditions. The essay also highlights our experiential learning programs, which make the most of our rich natural surroundings. Through activities such as growing and harvesting crops, school lunches, and composting, students learn about the close relationship between people and nature.

Through these educational experiences, we strive to nurture individuals who maintain a strong sense of their Japanese identity while developing the skills and perspectives needed to make a meaningful contribution on the global stage.
