At our high school, we hold special lessons refer to as "Insight", wherein special guests, who are leaders in a variety of fields, are invited to give a lecture, deepening students' thought within a global perspective.
(More information on "Insight" can be found here)
On the 23rd of May, Dr. Kota Hada, who is both a doctor as well as Representative and CEO of Elecom Healthcare ltd., gave a lecture entitled "what you can do in this world".
Dr. Hada told of how, while still a university student, he established an elementary school in Cambodia, and of the reason he decided to become a doctor. of the state of the countries he supports and of the lives that can be saved with even basic medical supplies. He talked of why he continues his activities in these countries, and of the thing that he wants students to treasure most, as well as what they should do while they are still students
After the lecture, students raised questions about the ideas of short-term and long-term support, alongside concerns raised by the advancement AI, to which Dr. Hada answered. Thoughts on the lecture were given, alongside a flower bouquet presented by the student council president.
Following this, a small voluntary discussion session was held for students who wished to discuss more with Dr. Hada.
Students aiming to become doctors or start businesses, as well as students who wished to learn more about volunteer activities, all gave questions to which Dr. Hada gave thorough answers.
After the conference, students gave their thoughts on the event. These included:
"I thought there was a limit to the lives that can be saved, but after hearing from Dr. Hada, I felt possibility",
"This was a time when I felt able to help people",
"I thought that even if I wanted to help people, I wouldn't be able to, but hearing Dr. Hada, who was able to do just that, helped spur me on",
And others.
Dr. Hada, thank you for taking the time to give a lecture at our school.
