Once a year at Linden Hall School, we organize hospital visits for students interested in pursuing careers in the medical field.

This year marked our third such visit, with eight students from Grades 9 to 12 taking part in a tour of Kyushu Medical Center in Fukuoka City.

The students explored a wide range of departments, including outpatient care, the Clinical Research Center, the testing laboratory, rehabilitation facilities, the pharmacy department, and the operating rooms.

They also had the valuable opportunity to speak directly with doctors and medical residents. Many students eagerly asked questions, particularly regarding the development of new medicines and clinical trials, such as “How much does it cost to develop a new drug?” and “Where do research ideas come from?”

After observing the operating rooms and laboratories, several students announced that this experience deepened their resolve to pursue a career in medicine.
